The Barber Memorial Home, Inc. has been serving families of our community since 1930 when Ivan A. Barber began our funeral home in Johnson City, New York. In 1940 he purchased the present facility where the Barber family continues to serve the community. Currently, Kyla Barber DeBlock carries on the family business as the fourth generation.

Embalming is generally not required if proper refrigeration is available. This is the fee for the funeral home to come pick up your loved one and bring him/her to the funeral home for preparation. On August 17, 1947, Erma was united in marriage to Robert S. Thompson. Robert and Erma moved from Iowa to Wisconsin in 1967 where they farmed and continued to raise their family. She graduated from Homer Central School in 1954 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1958. She completed her Master’s Degree in education from SUNY Cortland in1969. Jean was a teacher for thirty years at F.E.
